Kluaynamthai 2 Geriatric Hospital (the Hospital for the Elderly) focuses on organizing recreational and therapeutic activities, and these two types of activities are the main mission of the hospital by aiming to provide physical and psychological care for elderly patients with health problems, including dementia, confusion and Alzheimer’s.
These patients’ brain functions must be stimulated for cognitions - - date, time, place and person. Meanwhile, the patients must be encouraged to use the muscles of various organs, such as arms and hands, so that they can use the organs to perform activities of daily living as usual. By using activities as means for therapies, teams of physicians, nurses and occupational therapists will design individual and group activities, focusing on body and brain development and the lifestyle of each elderly patient to ensure daily motivation and fun. The elderly can choose and join in activities freely.
Group activities include morning exercise, Bingo, games for the brain, sports day, chess, checkers, etc.
Individual activities comprise drawing, reading, cooking, handicraft, painting, planting and playing games.
Outdoor activities consist of Motor Show, merit making in temples, Suan Luang Rama IX, Ancient City and Department Stores.
